As a Creative Director I have been fortunate to have been on the board of directors for many companies over the years as well as to have worked as an independent consultant for some of Australia ’s most respected companies and individuals. My participation has often been marked with the Australian Revenue logo as pictured above. This is the trademark and holding company that protects my interests and share holdings.

My passion and expertise is in business strategy, marketing, advertising and creative finance. I am experienced in designing positive flow corporate structures that tie seamlessly into marketing direction making sure companies are prepared for exponential growth as opportunities present themselves. I have an advanced knowledge of finance and what is required to generate funding for all kinds of projects.

The ideal working relationship is with the following 5 key steps:

  1. Familiarise myself with your company's current position in the market
  2. Identify your goals and all other potential outcomes and opportunities available
  3. Design a strategy and commercial approach to achieve success
  4. See these strategies into production and mentor the process through to completion
  5. Monitor the growth of the company and ensure it continues

In many cases these steps can be initiated and completed within a couple of months, yet in others a year or more. Some companies have their own creative agencies or internal departments already on board so my involvement is only required until step 3. In this circumstance I still recommend weekly or even monthly updates to make sure progress is occurring and to ensure the vision’s simplicity is not lost or jeopardised.

Irish Bentley Lawyers 2008
http://www.irishbentley.com.au

After being assisted with legal advice by Irish Bentley for many years it was a great surprise when they approached me to work on their branding and marketing. Scott Taylor and Zeke Bentley briefed me on what they wanted the new image to portray; “A classy, professional image – Irish Bentley are famous for their sleek, modern and creative edge”.

After trying a number of graphic artists, the boys realised they required a total branding package, not simply a logo to put on their letterheads.

I’m very happy with what we achieved in the renovation, giving the name a formal yet modern sheen that would not date quickly and allow the firm to grow in many areas without image restrictions. We also decided to implement a CMS website management solution that now enables them to keep their website updated in house, without the need for outside web contractors.

Stationery was also designed and printed with minimalistic design elements and a classy smooth matt cello glazing finish. The 420gsm business card stock also made an impact. An image was selected to run with their advertising which you will see featured through some of their paraphernalia. The old black and white legal stock photography reflects the good old fashion values of the Irish Bentley firm and the serious side of the legal industry.

Luxury Waterfront Home Design and Construction 2008
http://www.lewisland.com.au
http://www.harbourquays.com.au

I designed two homes. Firstly, to be samples of my luxury home design work to feature in my residential portfolio and secondly, one of the homes would eventually become the office and living quarters for myself when construction is completed.

The luxury home design service would be a welcome extension to my current offer of services and being something I enjoy thoroughly would give me opportunity to travel and design for international clients. Many business clients see my assistance in their corporate lives as being valuable enough to invite me to design some of their personal requirements. One of the luxuries of being a creative person is that your job description can be as versatile as your imagination.

The homes are being built at the new development “Harbour Quays” which is the waterfront land release adjacent to Harbour Town shopping centre that Lewis Land have put together. Lewis Land is the group responsible for The Sovereign Islands and Ephraim Island.

This was my first real experience with land sub-division. I decided to tackle this project on the side as a learning curve and of course as a smart little investment.

More Strategies 2007
http://www.morestrategies.com.au

When Angela Del Marco Managing Director and founder of Asset Financial, one of the Gold Coast’s premier finance companies decided to launch a new Asset Education business she recruited one of the best finance minds in the business. John Fox who originally set up Australian Beneficial Finance (ABF) was employed to launch a completely new concept in finance and education for the corporate world.

Being familiar with my experience from working together on the marketing of ABF, John brought me on board straight away and briefed me on what needed to be achieved.

I set about designing a complete image for the company and delivered a very customer friendly brand that portrayed clearly what it was they were trying to communicate to potential customers.

So successful in fact that More Strategies was sold not long after inception to two young entrepreneurs Keenan Mickley and Michael Follers.
I continue to service the boys taking care of their signage, printing and web development needs as they require it.

Antiquity Ring Art Work

Antiquity Ring 2007
http://www.artrevenue.com.au/antiquity

Brain child of Gold Coast business man John Fox, Antiquity Ring is a technology based jewellery concept that is already turning heads on a global scale.

I had known Mr Fox for quite some time and had been keeping a close eye on the project. Early in 2007 I decided to invest in the concept personally and joined the board of advisors to help guarantee its success. I developed the branding for this remarkable technology, including the name itself, the website teaser which has assisted in gaining international interest and the logo. I am currently a share holder in the company that owns the intellectual property.

Already gaining blue chip interest from parties such as DeBeers Diamond Jewellers which is partly owned by Louis Vuitton and the DeBeers, John Fox met with Emmanuel Clauet in September of 07 to discuss the Antiquity Ring. It seems that such a little piece of technology is such enormous news.

With global patents and trademarks still drying, the concept is very much under wraps, but keep an eye out for more news on the Antiquity Ring or for enquiries contact myself on 1300 66 22 42.

Theirry Hanaught is one of the gold Coasts most experienced restaurant owners. He has developed many successful venues which have become Queensland house hold names. When Theirry told me he was planning yet another venture, I was excited to be on board again.

Bistro Blanc is a very stylish upmarket French influenced modern dining experience with an amazing atmosphere of sophistication. The gold plated sign I designed was the perfect touch to stamp the room with class. The experience continues with the minimalist menus, etched logos in the oversized glasses, gold wall paper style patterns through marketing paraphernalia and some very romantic corporate photography that sells the desired image instantly in colour media advertising.

Jonathan Grasso approached me to brand ABF with marketing and advertising improvements and to develop a website that would be effective in communicating with the aggregator’s brokers. I also worked on several internal correspondence campaigns and developed a series of newspaper ads, outdoor banners and corporate event signage.

Happy with the results, Jonathan later sold the company with 89 brokers in place to financial mega giant City Pacific who bought the wholesale mortgage supplier to add to its 240 City Pacific Finance offices.

Whilst working for Australian Beneficial Finance I was fortunate enough to experience firsthand the fantastic service of the company in the finance of some of my own projects.

VIP WOMAN

Hair and Beauty Sales Company – Sales Revenue Pty ltd 2007

This company was derived from a very old sales concept that has existed for years in the hair and beauty industry. I had watched a friend who is involved in this industry work very hard at doing this with very little return on investment. I have developed the concept into a completely new idea that would re-shape hair and beauty promotions in Australia.

The concept is called VIP Woman and has since been put on hold due to the success of other business ventures and sheer lack of time. I am still looking for a suitable partner for the company, and when I do find one, there is no doubt the company will be a roaring success. In its second week of operation, Sales Revenue employed in excess of 15 staff with a weekly turnover of over $15,000.
This is very much a business I would like to start up again given the right partner came along.

In July of 2007 I assisted the owners of LABEL MAGAZINE with the sale of the publication. Label is a high grade, fashion and life-style publication that was designed to rival some of the best women’s magazines on shelves. I approached a current client of mine who had a business in the fashion retail sector and the match was set. Michelle Rotheram from Label Gallery is a fantastic designer of fashion who loved the idea of show casing her own work in a national publication on a regular basis as well as having a communication medium to help shape the industry she had been a part of for so many years. With a name like Label Gallery and a magazine named Label, the match seemed perfect.

Local Army 2006
http://www.localarmy.com.au/NEW

5 well respected Gold Coast business men called me into their board room one day, sat me down and told me their concept to create a website that would reward people for information. Something of a private investigator site, I liked the idea and thought with a Net 2.0 strategy i.e. some new ways of thinking, the idea could be more successful than initially anticipated.

Struggling to take the next step because of a web developer who had let them down before, I explained to the board that a web guy wasn’t what they required. Instead, they needed a firm corporate direction for their relatively simple but smart idea and a creative department to make their vision a reality. In short, not just building a site, but making sure that it’s going to actually work once it’s built, people are going to visit it and of course the hope that the ratio of people that visit the site outweighs that of the expense to get them there.

When a friend of mine approached me to get on the board of this company I knew the idea had legs. When you stick advertising in front of people when they have nothing to do and nowhere to go, you are going to fall upon a certain amount of success.

I was the Creative Director on the team, designing the visual and strategic direction of the Salon TV brand. I worked with a few very talented individuals on this board, one of which happened to be Mark Drysdale, the former Chief Operations Officer at the ASIC.

I have since retired as director but still hold shares in the company.

Label Gallery Franchise Design 2006

My job was to turn 5 unbranded ideas into one simple business strategy that worked.
A kids retail shop on Chevron Island, a ladies retail shop next door, a fashion design house upstairs, a fashion manufacturing factory in Vietnam and a distribution arm to get the products on shelves.

The concept I designed and named is Label Gallery.

The two stores become one retail emporium – the flagship store in a franchise concept, the design house became a number of fashion labels and the wholesale distribution arm became the Label Gallery franchise fulfilment agent. I took care of all their branding including logos for all the companies and labels, newspaper and magazine advertising, billboards, signage, vehicles, shop designs, merchandise concepts, web sites and even fashion prints when they required something extra special. With the help of interior designer Donna Fletcher we also put together an interior concept proposal for the retail stores.

In 2007 I noticed a bright shining star in America called DreamHost; a new concept in web site hosting that I was very impressed by. The concept of cheap web hosting was not something new to me, but they had taken the business model to a new level which impressed me even more. They called in Employee Owned webhosting. Here is a business that is actually owned by the hundreds of staff required to run it.

I contacted DreamHost straight away and signed an agreement with them to become an Australian Affiliate for the concept. I registered the domain name Dreamhost.com.au and started spreading the word.

DreamHost today is a very popular web hosting solution in Australia and the rest of the world, if you’ve heard about dreamhost.com.au chances are it’s in some way because of me!

Now this is a company that knows the meaning of the word growth. In fact I don’t think they have experienced anything but!

I first met Managing Director and founder Robert Badalotti when I was only 13years old, playing PlayStation with his son after school. He went from building two luxury homes then, to being one of the most successful property developers in Queensland today.

I started working professionally with Robert in 2003 following the completion of his Surfers Paradise high-rise project Palazzo Colonnades when I assisted with his rebranding and name change to “Azzura”. After seeing what I had created for other clients, Robert commissioned me to develop a new web presence for his group of companies in preparation for his next big high-rise project WINGS RESORT AND SPA.

In 2005 he approached me again to develop a brand and strategy for Elston, another high-end high-rise project in Surfers. I also put together an education pack which was used in Dubai to sell off the plan product on the Gold Coast.

I didn’t work on the websites, but I did have a hand in some of the photography of Robert in the Philippines.

Talent Magazine Artwork

Talent Magazine 2006
http://www.talentmagazine.com.au

I came up with the idea for talent magazine mostly out of my own experiences. When I was young I was an actor on Australian TV and on growing up I had a lot of experience in the music industry having signed a recording deal with SONY MUSHROOM by age 11, shot five music videos for five songs by age 14 and played live at several major sporting events in front of hundreds of thousands of people.

I chose not to continue my career in Music or Film as my true passion is in business and behind the scenes, but I wanted to share my understanding of this industry with those who needed it most. I somehow convinced my mother to quit her high-paying job working for one of Packer’s companies to come be my partner in the publication and sell some advertising.

The first issue was released with great success, distributed nationally through every newsagency in Australia. The cover was Ricky Lee who at the time had just released her second hit album! The second issue was also very successful growing in quality and size with photographer Gary Howard coming on board to shoot some amazing images of Fig Kid and our cover girl in the HILTON Sydney.

Working for the biggest tile retailer in the country was a lot of fun. Firstly you’ve got the challenge of staying within their current branding guidelines, then of course you still have to make what you’re doing look good. When the press started calling me the next Kerry Packer in news stories, I decided I’d embellish the concept by registering the domain name. I thought it was funny that the mega media mogul had not considered registering his own name. After getting a whole bunch of hits from the search engines, they bared the name from search results leaving the only people to be able to find the page those who actually thought of typing in the address to see what was there. Needless to say I received quite a few phone calls and emails from people in his company sizing me up. It was a shame that he died shortly after; I would love to convert this domain into somewhat of a memorial for his life when I find the time.

Possibly Australia’s largest cleaning company, responsible for the presentation of Sydney’s new International Airport and Westfield Shopping Centres, Asset Link were again staying on top of their game when they commissioned me to come up with some original marketing concepts.

I flew to Sydney to the Asset Link head office; a very modest premises for a company that turns over millions of dollars and has in excess of 1000 staff. I worked with owner and CEO Aurora Fonte to give Asset Link a perceived point of difference. When I got into it hands on I realised there actually already was one! It just wasn’t being promoted or taken advantage of to its full extent.

With a company of this size, it only takes a couple of tweaks in the right direction and you’d be surprised what a difference it can make. On the same token if your estimations are wrong it can have an adverse effect. It was for this reason that I designed a mechanism to drive popularity to Asset Link without jeopardising what had already taken so many years to develop. The mechanism was Keeping Australia Clean.

When I first met Kelly Lowry, Property One’s manager over a coffee she told me they were building a boutique “pit stop” style shopping centre in Robina. After seeing my work, Kelly recommended my commercial design services to every new tenant. The idea was that if every tenant was successful then they would definitely be paying their rent. Tenants were also not just receiving a schmick interior design; they were getting their business concept completely designed from scratch including trading name, logo design, core business design including menu ideas for a restaurant for example, signage design, fit out ideas and product placement concepts. They were also getting a business idea that was researched to be in demand in the surrounding area.

The product was called TwoEyes as they represent the diluted word VISINE without the V S N or E

During my time in the lime light I also starred in a number of International TV Commercials for Australian Blue Chip companies and in Movies of the week. I was fortunate enough to have been interviewed by hundreds of media personalities, publicists and journalists nationally. I grew at a very young age being surrounded by adults for the majority of my childhood.
